Family members and residents are encouraged to share their ideas and input at monthly Family Council Meetings, held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
Friends and family are welcome to visit as often as they would like and to participate in resident programs. Official visiting hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily; however, you are welcome to arrange visits outside of those hours with the nursing staff.
Calvert County Nursing Center Pet Policy
Pets may be brought to the building for visits as long as the owner has submitted a current Certificate of Examination, and a completed pet packet to the administrative office verifying the animal’s health.
Created for people with memory loss, the Music & Memory trains health professionals to utilize iPod music therapy. Through the program, caregivers collaborate with family members to create personalized playlists of residents' favorite artists and songs.
Music & Memory was established in 2008, and has spread to hundreds of long-term care centers in the United States. In 2012, the documentary "Alive Inside" chronicled the program's effects.
According to Music & Memory founder Dan Cohen, "these musical favorites tap deep memories not lost to dementia and can bring residents back to life, enabling them to feell like themselves again, to converse, socialize and stay present."
Programs and events designed to foster wellness through engaging residents intellectually and socially are a cornerstone of daily life at Calvert County Nursing Center.
